Many children books are published year after year by people who have a passion for stimulating a child’s mind. The adult writer must research different areas just to learn how to tap into the ideas and thoughts of young readers alike. Although we applaud many of those who have taken on the task of entertaining our youth, Rootastic Books decided to take a different approach to the children’s book world. Our goal is to encourage the child to take their feelings, gifts and ideas and put them into words. We promote reading programs, expressive art, one-on-one book coaching and artistic talents to help develop the gifts within each individual.
Although there are many reputable companies around who publish children
books, we still believe that our publishing house is different in many ways because of the following reasons:
Rootastic Books exists to nurture confident, curious, and historically grounded Black American children by providing books that affirm their identity, honor their ancestors, and teach the truth about their place in American history.
We believe that when children understand who they are, they read with pride, learn with purpose, and grow with unshakable roots.
We only publish Authors from 6-18 years of age.
We offer one-on-one coaching with each young writer.

Our family tree guides turn curiosity into connection — inviting kids to talk with grandparents, collect stories, organize photos, and discover the powerful history within their own home.
Each activity becomes a building block, helping children grow with confidence in who they are and where they come from.
